SUMMER PROGRAMS - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Health and Safety Form
Each student is required to have a new health and safety form each year. This year’s form is entirely digital and is required one week before the start of your child’s program.
Drop Off and Pick Up
What is your drop off/pick up policy? At the end of each day, we require all students to be picked up at the door to the studio by an authorized person listed on their health and safety form.
WHEN should we drop off/pick up our child? - Teachers will greet students 5 minutes before class starts on the Waterfield Road entrance to both studios. To ensure a timely pick up, please arrive to our Waterfield Road entrance 5 minutes before class ends and wait for teachers to dismiss students. If for any reason you are running late to drop off or pick up, please call to let us know you’re on your way! Our number is 781-721-1023
Cancellation and Sick Policy
What is your cancellation/sick policy? - You can find our cancellation policy here. SICK POLICY: Please help us keep our staff and students healthy by keeping your kids home if they are experiencing fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, or any other contagious symptoms. We do not offer refunds for classes missed due to illness and appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
What happens if my child is going to be out sick/arriving late/picking up early - Please send us an email as soon as you know to info@studioonthecommon.com
Do you offer drop-ins? - Unfortunately we do not offer drop-ins, we hope that your artist joins us for fun filled week, coming home with projects you’ll cherish for a lifetime!
What if I can’t attend the whole week? - We have reserved a seat for your child for the whole week, we do not offer reduced rates for partial weeks.
Waitlist
What is your waitlist policy? - Once a class is “sold out”, you have the ability to add yourself to the waitlist. If a space becomes available, everyone on the waitlist will receive an email notification at the same time. There is no priority on the waitlist. The first person to register will secure the seat. You will remain on the waitlist, unless you remove yourself. And, if another seat becomes available, everyone will be notified again.
What to bring and what to wear
Should I send my child with a snack? - Please pack a NUT FREE snack and drink with an ice pack if it needs to be kept cool. Thank you!
How should I dress my child for class? - Art can be messy! Please be sure to dress your child appropriately for a mix of indoor and outdoor play as well as a mess. While we offer smocks, not all kids choose to wear them! We HIGHLY recommend closed-toed shoes to avoid slips and falls both indoors and outdoors.
In our pottery studio, we recommend having long hair tied back and removing any rings/bracelets/watches before class, and leaving them at home for safe keeping.
Can you store my bike/scooter/car seat? - Our studios have limited space and cannot accommodate storing bikes/scooter/car seats. There is a bike rack across the street from the studio on Winchester Common (just remember to bring a bike lock!)
Parking
Where can we park? - We have street parking in front of our art and pottery studios. During lunch time, spots become more limited and we recommend that you park in the Waterfield Public Parking Lot (located behind our studio; entrance to this lot is next to D’agostino's deli)
End of week - art show and pottery pick up
When/Where is the Art Show? - WEATHER PERMITTING our art show takes place on the last day of each week. Meet us on the Common (the park in front of our studio) 15 minutes before the class ends for our art show. In the event of rain, feel free to do your own art show at home! We are so proud of your child’s hard work and are sure you will enjoy viewing it. Please note that the Art Show only showcases work from students taking classes in our Art Studio, not our Pottery Studio (see below).
When can we pick up our pottery? - It takes time for our staff to fire your child’s amazing pottery! The average time between class and pickup is two weeks. Look for an email from us letting you know when your child’s pottery is ready for pick up.
